Sign Language Services Australia (previously known as Sign Language Services Qld - SLSQ) was established in Brisbane in January 2004 to provide a variety of quality sign language services to a broad range of consumers throughout Australia.

Merie Spring who founded SLSA gained her NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) Level 2 accreditation in 1986 and has been actively involved as a practitioner, interpreter trainer and service provider since 1988 when she gained her NAATI Level 3 accreditation.

SLSA administration staff, work closely with clients, deaf consumers and interpreters to ensure individual requests are catered for. SLSA Interpreting Requests are handled promptly and efficiently.

SLSA's team of interpreters are all NAATI accredited and are encouraged to participate in ongoing professional development opportunities made available by SLSA and/or other training organisations such as ASLIA and AUSIT.

SLSA is committed to providing training opportunities in a number of areas.

Ongoing professional development workshops and seminars are made available for Auslan/English interpreters and Deaf interpreters.

Individual programs are developed for specific requests received from government and non government organisations/departments for training in the workplace. Topics include but are not limited to Cross Cultural Training, How to Work with Interpreters, or relevant Sign Language Classes tailored to meet the needs of the particular workplace.

Customer/consumer satisfaction is of utmost importance to SLSA and we encourage feedback on services provided. Interpreters are also invited to provide appropriate feedback to SLSA so working conditions can be monitored and additional support can be provided to them when necessary.
